The Talbot Community Centre is a former Miner's Institute and a true community centre, as it is owned and run by the local community, for the community and most of the people involved are volunteers.
The Centre has full Disabled facilities, including a lift.
There are three rooms available for hire; Meeting Room 1, a small room situated on the ground floor, Meeting Room 2, a small room situated upstairs and the Main Hall, which is a large hall with a stage, along with toilet and catering facilities.
This room is situated on the ground floor and suitable for meetings of up to 10 people. Access is gained through the door immediately to the right of the main door. Toilet facilities are available in the main hall, however the main hall may be in use, so users should act accordingly.
This room is situated upstairs and suitable for meetings and hobby groups etc. and can accommodate up to 18 people. Access is gained from the stairs to the left of the main door and the door to the room is directly in front of you at the top of the stairs. Wheelchair access is via the lift next to the stairs. Toilet facilities are available in the main hall, however the main hall may be in use, so users should act accordingly.
The Main Hall is large and has a stage. It is ideal for seated functions, dances, concerts and conferences and can accommodate up to 100 people with ease. It comes complete with state-of-the-art audio/visual systems for conferences, sports or films.
We have a first class Chef who can provide hot sit-down meals, buffets, basket meals, or just light refreshments, all at very competitive prices.
Typical functions include:
A regular feature at the Talbot is a three times weekly (Monday, Wednesday and Friday) Luncheon club, where we offer a main course, dessert and a coffee or tea to members for only £3.50! Non-members are welcome, but there is a small additional charge.
If you are interested in volunteering, we can find an activity that interests you.
The Talbot Community Centre is located near Pyle and is easily accessible from the M4 (Junction 37 from the East and Junction 38 from the West). Initially follow the signs for Pyle (A48), at the traffic lights in Pyle turn (right from the East and left from the West) towards Kenfig Hill and Cefn Cribwr (B4281). Follow the road for approximately three quarters of a mile to the top of Kenfig Hill and turn left at the monument. The Talbot can be found 20 yards in on the left.
